Kirsten Dunne

National Galleries of Scotland
Paper Conservator
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom
Kirsten Dunne graduated from Edinburgh University in 1998 with a first class MA degree in History of Art. She then went on to study an MA in Conservation of Fine Art, specialising in works of art on paper at Northumbria University, graduating with a distinction in 2002. Her first role saw her establishing a conservation department at MIMA, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art before returning to Edinburgh to take up the post of Paper Conservator at the National Galleries of Scotland in 2005. Whilst initially employed as a paper conservator, her role has grown and she now splits her time between paper conservation of the permanent collection and preventive conservation and environmental management across the galleries’ estate and this includes being the departments’ key user of their new Microfader. More recently this role has also grown to include Time Based Media and establishing this growing discipline within the NGS conservation department. She gained her professional accreditation in 2011.
